Gravenhurst

You are here: Home / Community Profiles / Communities / Gravenhurst

Gravenhurst lies at the southeastern crook of beautiful Muskoka Bay and is the southern gateway to Muskoka’s Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. With tons of heritage waterfront, unique restaurants, breweries and bakeries, stellar accommodations, steamship tours, water sports and nearby hiking, you will find a ton of not-to-be-missed experiences and volumes of new memories.

Out of town you’ll find the Trail winding along Lake Muskoka itself, with the water nearby and the scent of pine on the wind. It’s beautiful at any time of year. In fall, it will blow your mind.

The Trail in Gravenhurst follows mostly quiet rural roads south of the Town. Closer to Town  and Highway 11 the route follows arterial roadways that can be busy, especially in summer. West of Town the route follows Regional Road 169 a busy road recommended for experienced travellers comfortable riding with traffic.

Much of the route through Gravenhurst is also part of the signed Great Lakes Waterfront Trail signature Lake Muskoka Loop, an 90km single or multi-day experience circumnavigating Lake Muskoka, offering a healthy taste of the heart of Ontario’s cottage country.
