Chutes Provincial Park, Massey, ON

National Parks, Provincial Parks, Conservation Authorities and communities operate a number of excellent campsites located on the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. There are also a number of private campgrounds of which we have included a small selection.

Travel from Rouge River, Toronto to Quebec border using campgrounds for accommodation everywhere except in Kingston, where we suggest staying at St. Lawrence College or Queen’s University residences. Average distance between campgrounds 50 to 80 km.

Georgian Bay

Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Note this park is about 5 km north of the Waterfront Trail and access to the park by bicycles is not very safe. Heavy truck traffic and no shoulders make this a difficult ride. See note on Map 2-4

Glen Rouge Campground –managed by Toronto Region Conservation and north of the Trail. Waterfront Trail maps do not extend to location of the campground. Closest is Map 2-16.

Oshawa/Clarington boundary

Cobourg

Kingston–ok it’s not camping but it is reasonable accommodation and a nice break from the “under the stars” experience.

Long Sault Parkway–There are three campgrounds managed by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission. They are McLaren Campground (cabins available), Mille Roches Campground, Woodlands Campground.
