Fees

Adult:

  • Before Feb. 25, 2019:  $1033 + $134.29 H.S.T
  • Feb. 25 – June 30, 2019: $1083 +$140.79 H.S.T
    Lists of what is and is not included are included below.

Waterfront Trail Champion – Fundraising Option:

Student rider (aged 15- 25):

  • $550 + $71.50 H.S.T

Child:

The 2019 GWTA is considered unsuitable for children under the age of 15.

  • $550 + $71.50 H.S.T

Meals: Four dinners, two lunches and all breakfasts are included in the 2019 registration fee. All other meals are on your own in the local communities–one of the ways the GWTA supports local businesses and promotes communities. It also allows you to schedule and budget your lunches and dinners according to your needs.

Transportation

Please note that in 2019 registration DOES NOT INCLUDE coach transportation from:

  • Long Term Parking at Georgian College, Barrie to  the start in Sault Ste. Marie on 28th July or Sudbury to Sault Ste. Marie on 28th July
  • The finish in Sudbury to Long Term Parking in Barrie on 2nd August

Coach Transportation will be available to purchase separately  – more details coming soon

Transportation will include a seat on a luxury coach bus, luggage and bike transport, taxes and processing fees.

We take the design of our jerseys very seriously and are delighted to receive such positive feedback about them. 2019 GWTA custom jerseys will again be made by premium cycling clothing brand Sugoi, and will be available to order from April 2019.

In the meantime, check out  last year’s GWTA jersey above which featured the authentic South Glengarry tartan.

Payment Methods

Credit Card:

Payment by credit card will be processed securely by PayPal. You do not need to have a Pay Pal account for amounts under $1,500. If registering more than one participant and total comes to more than $1500, you will be prompted to create a PayPal account for added security.

People who do not have access to the internet can register via phone at 416-943-8080.

Included in Registration Fee

  • All breakfasts on 28 July – 2nd August.
  • Opening night dinner at the Delta Inn in Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Celebration dinner at Science North, Sudbury on August 1st.
  • Community Dinners in Bruce Mines and Blind River.
  • Lunch on two of the five riding days.
  • Snacks at the Finish Line.
  • Designated route for week.
  • Printed itinerary with maps.
  • 3 nights camping (own tent) in host Waterfront Trail Communities and 2 nights in non camping accommodation (Delta Inn and Suites in Sault Ste. Marie and the Travelway Inn or Laurentian College in Sudbury).
  • Long term parking in Barrie.
  • Programmed events and activities other than cycling (some may be subject to an additional charge).
  • Luggage transfer (subject to weight & size restrictions).
  • Support vehicles for riders who do not wish to cycle the full distance.
  • A team of experienced volunteer cyclists to provide on route first aid, basic bike repair, help with navigation, and good cheer.
  • Commemorative Finishers Medal.
  • Tour organization and support.
  • CAA Mechanical Support.

Not Included in Registration Fee

  1. Snacks
  2. Lunches on July 30, 31. Dinner on July 31, & 1. There are communities and choices available for lunches and dinners.

  4. Non-camping accommodations such as Hotels, B&Bs, or Comfy Campers
  5. Pre tour accommodations in Barrie on July 27th – please book separately
  6. Coach Transportation from Long Term Parking in Barrie to the start in Sault Ste. Marie on July 28th:  transportation will be available to purchase separately and will be available from April 2019.
  7. Coach Transportation from the Finish in Sudbury to Long Term Parking in Barrie  on August 2nd:  transportation will be available to purchase separately.

Congratulations on registering for the 2019 Great Waterfront Trail Adventure!  We are excited to have you join us and want to make sure that you have everything you need in order to have a great experience. Please use this checklist to help you organize your trip.

  • Completed Registration for the 2019 GWTA -Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury.
  • Booked pre tour accommodations at Georgian College in Barrie.
  • Booked transportation to the start of the event if you plan on using Barrie Long Term Parking – Transportation options available soon.
  • Booked transportation from the Finish if you plan on using Barrie Long Term Parking.
  • Booked accommodations if planning to stay in hotels or use Comfy Campers.

Tour Rules

Rules have been created to help create a safe experience for everyone. Anyone who violates the rules will have their wristband removed at the discretion of the Tour Director and will be ejected from the Tour. There will be no refunds for people ejected for safety violations.

  1. All cyclists are expected to follow the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.  Bicycles are considered a vehicle as part of the Act.
  2. Helmets are required for all participants throughout each day of the tour.
  3. Drafting is extremely dangerous, and especially on a trail that will have other users present. This will not be accepted during this ride.
  4. Stopping; please make sure that you signal prior to stopping and move to the right of the trail, and remove your bike from the pathway to allow other people to pass. Also, make sure that no one is behind you before you come to a complete stop. When accessing areas off the pathway along the itinerary, please make sure that your bicycle is visible for guides who are sweeping the route.
  5. Passing on the trail; signal with a bell or by calling out to cyclists in front of you that you intend to pass on the left. Conversely when you are notified of someone’s intentions to pass, please move to the right to allow space.
  6. Stay to the right along the trail, this also applies to the sections that are along country roads as part of the trail. For your safety here is a link to the Hwy traffic act as it applies to cyclists (please read and understand). Staying to the right allows oncoming vehicles and cyclists alike the ability to pass safely.
  7. Anyone thought to be endangering the safety of others along the route due to the consumption of alcohol will be ejected from the tour. The bicycle falls under the HWY traffic act and is treated the same way as a motorized vehicle in these circumstances.
  8. Obey posted signs! Cyclists like motor vehicles are required to come to a complete stop at stop signs and red lights. Also be aware of railway crossings and potential hazards in wet conditions.
  9. Be considerate of others while on the trail, in campgrounds and in the communities along the route! Be a welcomed guest.
  10. Ebikes – all the above rules apply. Please be especially considerate of other cyclists and give a warning as you pass – remember that you my take them by surprise.  All Ebike riders are required to bring an additional fully charged battery pack – the GWTA cannot guarantee that adequate charging facilities will be available at overnight campgrounds.
  11. Be safe & enjoy the ride!!!

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your registration, the cancellation fee will be determined according to the policy outlined below.  Exceptions to this policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, or personal emergencies.  There is no refund for arriving late or leaving the trip early.

The fees retained reflect the costs to the Trust of administering the Tour registration and are not intended to be punitive in any way. The Trust realizes that the majority of those who cancel their registrations do so out of necessity.

If you wish to cancel your registration, you must request a refund by email to tourdirector [at] wrtrust.com on or before the above-noted deadlines. No exceptions to the deadline or amount of refund will be considered.

Transfer of Registration:   After April 1, 2019, the Trust will not issue refunds. However, you may sell or transfer or give your registration to someone else. The Trust will not facilitate these transactions. To transfer a registration, the Trust must have an email (tourdirector [at] wrtrust.com) from both parties (seller & purchaser) stating that the transfer has taken place and is accepted by both parties.

Registration Carry Overs:   All Registrations apply to the Tour year only – 2019. No year-to-year carry-overs will be granted.
