The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail Route Data

The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail is a signed route stretching over 3600 km along the Canadian shores of the Great Lakes region.

Each section of the Trail—just like each Great Lake—is different, with its own landscapes, cultures, histories, disposition, stories and their share of delicious food. Each is a different experience for you to enjoy.

Download essential Great Lakes Waterfront Trail GPS data through Ride with GPS accessed via the map below. Simply click on the section of the route you would like to download, which will take you to its Ride with GPS page. Then select “More” and “Export as File.” Routes are separated into the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Georgian Bay, and Lake Huron North Channel sections as a series of continuous lines.

The essential GPS routing represents nearly 3100 km of the Trail and traces a route beginning at the Quebec border and ending in Gros Cap near Sault Ste. Marie where Lake Superior meets the St. Marys River.  This routing does not include information on closures, detours or caution markers. It compliments the many other available resources on our website including the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail Interactive Map, Downloadable Maps and Itineraries.
