Garden River

You are here: Home / Community Profiles / Communities / Garden River

A forested corridor that tantalizes with glimpses of open water will greet travellers to Garden River First Nation, a deeply historic community whose shores are defined by the unity of Lake George, Little Lake George, and the gentle curve of the St. Marys River.  Visitors can relax along tracts of soft sand at Laughing Water Beach in Ojibway Park, hike the Laughing Water Trail to nearby Echo Bay, peruse Native Crafts, take in 18 holes at the Silver Creek Golf Course, or simply sit down for a game at the local bingo hall.

Ojibway Park offers great lakeside camping with recently renovated shower amenities. In addition to RV and tent camping, the Park has 4 lovely cabins with electric power–a wonderful way to spend a couple of days or more enjoying the Trail!

There is a gorgeous forest boardwalk and trail hike that loops for 2 km within the park. It can be accessed directly from the Hwy 17 portion of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.

Amenities and services in this welcoming community also include a variety store, massage services, and a horse ranch.
