A sunrise from the Red Rock shoreline is glorious. Resting on the shores of Nipigon Bay under the watch of Red Rock Mountain, the Town of Red Rock is a haven away from the busyness of the highway and a welcoming community that has all the amenities you’ll need to enjoy your visit. Whether it’s history and heritage, boating, fishing, rugged hiking, cross-country biking or cycling the Trail, you’ll find plenty of opportunity to soak in the natural beauty.
The Trail in Red Rock leads you to the Red Rock Marina, a perfect staging area and a site that includes a campground for those who like an overnight under the stars, and an exceptional interpretive centre. The site is more than a local trailhead, serving as an interim terminus for the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, and a hub of Trail activity, being situated not far from the southern terminus of the Nipigon River Recreation Trail, a 10.1km (each way) scenic and rugged hike linking Red Rock to the Nipigon Marina. Further from town you’ll find the trailhead of the Red Rock Mountain Trail, a 4.9km loop leading to stunning panoramic views for a different perspective of the lake, town, and surrounding landscape.
The seed of the current town began as a farming community in the early 1900s and was once accessible only by rail. Fortunately, now Red Rock is an easy trip from the highway, a once-hidden gem on the crown of Lake Superior.

Le site compte plus qu’un point de départ du sentier local; celui-ci sert de point final provisoire au Great Lakes Waterfront Trail en plus de s’avérer un centre d’activités en raison de sa proximité au point final sud du sentier récréatif de la rivière Nipigon, une randonnée pittoresque et accidentée de 10,1 km (dans chaque sens) reliant Red Rock à la marina de Nipigon. En vous éloignant de la ville, vous trouverez le point de départ du sentier de montagne Red Rock, une boucle de 4,9 km qui offre des panoramas à couper le souffle, et donne une perspective différente du lac, de la ville et des paysages environnants.
La ville actuelle fut créée par une collectivité agricole au début des années 1900 et on ne pouvait s’y rendre que par la voie ferrée. Red Rock, un joyau autrefois caché de la couronne du lac Supérieur, est aujourd’hui facilement accessible depuis la route.
