After standing on site at Alex Robertson Park for nearly 20 years, the wind turbine located in Alex Robertson Park at the Pickering Ontario Power Generation facility will be decommissioned and dismantled, resulting in temporary Trail closures.
The process to dismantle the turbine, which stands at the west end of the OPG Pickering facility, will begin September 30, 2019. The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail closuresin the park will be limited to sections just north and west of the construction site between the hours of 6:30am and 6:00pm on weekdays between October 3 and October 21, 2019. The Trail will still be open on evenings and weekends.
The turbine is managed and maintained by OPG’s Renewable Generation group, and has not functioned for a number of years.
