Lakeshore Rd between Boulton St and Riley Rd is closed until further notice.
Due to safety concerns surrounding identified erosion issues near the roadway, soft road closures are in place at Metcalf St & Mill St and Lakeshore Rd & Stephenson Rd, with a hard road closure at 3636 Lakeshore Road on the Trail south of Clarington.
A signed detour from Metcalf Street to Stephenson Road is in place for drivers and cyclists.
Please note: Hard road closures block the entire road, preventing motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles from passing. Soft road closures allow local traffic to access homes, businesses, or properties up until the point of a hard road closure.
Clarington is continuing active monitoring of the situation and will engage engineering specialists to design interim stabilization measures, with construction targeted for 2026. For the time being, the trail closure is ongoing.
