Ajax is the first community along the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail to achieve a completely off-road Waterfront Trail from end to end. iIt is a beautiful stretch of continuous asphalt Trail and one of the finest family-friendly sections of the Trail. Great for walkers and cyclists.
In 2018, the Trail was named the William Parish Waterfront Trail to honour the founding mayor of the Town in 1954. Mr. Parish protected the Lake Ontario waterfront as an open space for the public. Subsequent Councils built on this foundation including his son Steve Parish who served as mayor of Ajax for 23 years beginning in 1995.
- Amenities (washrooms and refreshments) available in Rotary Park at Duffins Creek. Washrooms available at Veterans Point Gardens (formerly Harwood Point Gardens). Carruthers Marsh Pavilion (washrooms, concession)
- At the foot of Harwood Ave. S. you will find Veterans Point Gardens, dedicated to HMS Ajax, the Royal Navy ship after which the Town was named. Great interpretation panels describe the Town’s history.
