Parry Sound

You are here: Home / Community Profiles / Communities / Parry Sound

Welcome the heart of the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay.

Parry Sound is a thriving urban centre of business, heritage, arts and culture, with all the necessities, and a large selection of restaurants, including an excellent bakery and craft brewery and accommodations throughout. The Town also has a gear and bike shop, making Parry Sound an ideal overnight stop on your Great Lakes Waterfront Trail journey. In the harbour you’ll find multiple companies offering sightseeing tours, giving you the opportunity to explore some of the 30,000 islands on the water by cruise ship, or even through the air by seaplane. With many islands in view, Parry Sounds harbour provides an impression of the vastness of Georgian Bay, while somehow making it seem intimate. Even from the shore, the sunsets are not to be missed.

On the Trail in Parry Sound you’ll enjoy a trip curling right along the shores of Georgian Bay and Parry Sound’s harbour, perfect for a family outing to Parry Sound’s blue flag designated Waubuno Beach. Hikers will find side trails along the bay, some that lead to lovely viewpoints on nearby bluffs. On views, there are none quite like the iconic view from Tower Hill. You won’t want to leave the area without a visit.

Connections

Park to Park Trail – This 230km trail network extends from stunning Killbear Provincial Park to Algonquin Provincial Park, joining it via two main entry points, Highway 60 near the Oxtongue River and Algonquin Park Access Point #4 – Rain Lake, a great place to pick up an Algonquin backcountry canoe or hiking experience. Much of the Park to Park Trail is open to hikers, cyclists (best for Mountain and Fat bikes) and ATVs, though some sections are restricted to motorized vehicles.  The Park to Park parallels the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail for sections of Oastler Park Dr and intersects with it at Rankin Lake Road. The Waterfront trail connects to or is nearby the Rose Point Trail and Seguin Trail sections of the Park to Park Trail.
